  4.     DIED. Arthur Goldberg, 81, U.S. Supreme Court Justice from
  5. 1962 to 1965; in Washington. John F. Kennedy's Secretary of
  6. Labor, he became an influential member of the high court's
  7. liberal bloc led by Chief Justice Earl Warren. Goldberg
  8. reluctantly left the bench after Lyndon Johnson prevailed upon
  9. him to become Ambassador to the United Nations. He resigned that
  10. post in April 1968 out of frustration with Johnson's escalation
  11. of the Vietnam War.
